About Us

Ozzie’s is a family owned ice cream shop in Greensboro NC. They have been serving the Triad since 2014.

Adam and Betsy Greer are local educators and thought the business would be not only a nice source of income, but also a great place for their five children to learn about business. and their 5 children decided to name the shop after a little diner on Main Street, Jinja Uganda.

The Greer family lived in Uganda in 2010 and 2011 and grew very close to the owner; an Australian missionary who has been serving in Uganda for almost 40 years. The kids thought naming the shop Ozzie’s in honor of the friendship they had with her.

“When we started Ozzie’s, my wife said, ‘Man we need checker tables and we need games and we want to have a spot that folk if they just want to come hang out can keep it simple,’ and that is kind of what has developed,” Greer said in an interview with Fox8 News.

In April 2020 the Greer family moved their shop to 3712 Old Battleground Road, a short distance from Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.

Not only did the new location offer more parking, it also allowed for more outdoor space. This was a blessing as people were spending more time outdoors due to COVID, and foot traffic had increased.

It has become a place to make friends and a sweet escape for families.

Ozzie’s Ice Cream was voted YES Weekly’s Triads Best Ice Cream in 2020.

The Triad’s Best Awards are given annually to local small business owners and are voted on by the public. This recognition gives customers a way to give back though showing their support for their favorite local small businesses.
